Sanders Therapy Group Team of Professionals

Shannon was born and raised in small-town North Dakota and has lived in Oregon for over 10 years. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy in 2000 from the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota. Shannon started working at Providence in 2003, completing a mentorship in hand therapy, continuing her 10 years of service, and specializing in the treatment of hand injuries. Shannon joined our team in 2013 with the goal of providing more individualized care in an environment that supports increasing function in patients with hand injuries.

Murphy was born and raised in the great state of Ohio. Immediately after graduating from Sandusky High School, Murphy went on to enlist in the U.S. Navy. There, she became an Aviation Boatswain’s Mate Equipmentman onboard the USS Harry S. Truman, spending day and night launching and recovering aircraft. During her enlistment, she met her loving husband, Ryan. Together, they attended West Virginia University where Murphy pursued a Master’s in Occupational Therapy, as well as minored in Psychology and Family Studies. Not long after graduation, Murphy and her husband moved to Portland, Oregon.

Jess was born and raised in Livermore, CA. She received her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo and graduated with her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Northern Arizona University in 2018. She completed her residency at OHSU with a focus on neurodegenerative conditions, and has worked with children and adults across a range of abilities and conditions. Upon joining the Sanders team in 2022, her focus has been on providing evidence-based care specialized in treating the upper extremity.

Rachel is a native Oregonian, growing up in the small town of Sandy, OR. She attended Oregon State University where she studied kinesiology with a focus in the medical humanities. She then went on to pursue a Doctorate of Occupational Therapy from Tufts University in Boston, MA. After graduating with her OTD, Rachel moved back home to Oregon to be closer to her family and friends while also starting a career in hand therapy. Rachel’s interests outside of work include trying new restaurants, reading, snowboarding, and learning how to golf.

I have 5 years of OT experience, with 3 of those years spent practicing as a hand therapist. I have recently moved back to NW Oregon from Medford with my longtime partner. I enjoy international travel, spending time outdoors, and I am an avid birdwatcher.
